North East Mold recently completed a mold inspection and air quality test for a home in Sayreville, New Jersey, where the homeowner had concerns about a crawl space attached to the house. Crawl spaces are a common area for moisture buildup, limited airflow, and organic materials that can support mold growth, especially in New Jersey homes. During the inspection, we evaluated the crawl space conditions and performed testing to determine whether mold growth or elevated airborne mold levels were present.
After testing, it was determined that no active mold growth was present at the time of the inspection. While the results were reassuring, we did make a preventative recommendation based on what we observed in the crawl space. Cardboard boxes were being used for storage, which can absorb moisture and become a food source for mold. We recommended switching to plastic storage bins to reduce moisture absorption and lower the risk of future mold growth. Simple changes like this can go a long way in protecting indoor air quality and preventing mold issues before they start.
